General Operator 

We’ve assembled an amazing team here Aldermans – and now we have an opportunity for you to be part of it.

We’re looking for a General Operator to provide support to our busy production team. It will be for 3-4 months initially, but could be extended.

Your role will be to provide extra help where we need it most, so we can maintain the quality and delivery standards our customers expect.  With a role like this, you have the chance gain experience across a wide range of sheet metal fabrication processes and work on some of the latest CNC machines, such as our fibre laser cutting machine, as well our suite of modern press brakes.

You’ll be working alongside our skilled operators to assist them with metal folding, preparing metal parts and supporting our assembly team.

Previous experience of sheet metal work would be helpful, but not essential as we will provide full training.

Quality is an important part of all we do, so you’ll need to have good attention to detail and be able to follow works instructions. The work will involve moving or lifting large pieces of metal, so you need to be physically able to do so. We take health & safety seriously, so expect you to follow our standards and procedures.


  • Our day shift is 0700hrs to 1530hrs Monday to Thursday (1430hrs on Friday).
  • Our late shift, when running, is 1515hrs to 0145hrs Monday to Thursday.

Aldermans is a family-owned, award-winning business, established for 50 years and known for its excellent workplace culture and superb customer service.

We are based in Newnham, Plympton. You may find it helpful to have your own transport, but this is not essential. To encourage sustainable travel we have an electric vehicle charging point, secure bicycle lockers, shower facilities, and personal lockers for staff.
