Rockwood Composites- Bespoke Press

Rockwood Composites, a specialist bespoke component manufacturer based in Newton Abbot, Devon, required a new compression moulding press to support its expansion in the aerospace sector. With over 25 years of experience in the composites industry, Rockwood serves multiple sectors, including nuclear, defence, medical technology, and aerospace.

The company’s diverse product range includes drone propellers, aircraft cabin components, cryogenic struts, and medical knee braces, and it supplies international blue-chip brands. A key part of Rockwood’s manufacturing process is compression moulding, which relies on highly specialised heated presses that shape composite materials with precision. To meet increasing demand in the growing aerospace sector, Rockwood needed a third large press to produce interior aircraft panels efficiently.

Having previously worked with Aldermans since 2013, commissioning multiple presses over the years, Rockwood turned to Aldermans once again to manufacture a bespoke, high-strength press capable of withstanding the rigours of high-pressure and continuous production.
