Aldermans joins fellow manufacturers in taking the LEAD!

Seven of our team are participating in a training programme to support the development of a ‘continuous improvement’ culture and skill set.

The programme, Continuous Workforce Development (CWD) in lean, trains participants in techniques to enhance workplace efficiency – such as effective teamwork, workplace organisation, problem solving, visual management, and many more.

The training is being delivered by LEAD (Lean Education And Development), a respected provider of training and development in lean manufacturing. The year-long programme is spread across 11 days’ worth of learning sessions.

Aldermans’ staff will be participating alongside teams from fellow Devon manufacturers Permaban, Vortok International and MBG Engineering. Together, the teams will undertake project work which enables them to benefit from a deeper understanding of their own business, while also learning from the experiences of other companies. All participants will be awarded recognised qualifications at the end of the programme.

Lean is a workplace efficiency philosophy, which can be applied not only to a manufacturing environment, but also to administrative and business management processes. Its focus is on improving performance, eliminating waste in time and materials, and focusing on processes that add value for customers.

“Continuous improvement is vital for our ongoing success,” commented Managing Director Karen Friendship. “We have previously committed to other recognised manufacturing efficiency programmes, including Six Sigma and 5S, so we are looking forward to seeing the impact of the LEAD programme on our wider team.”
