When we said we go above and beyond, we meant it.

Six of our team left the workshop behind and swapped their uniform for something entirely different: Lycra.

Ian, Dylan, Jeff, Richard, Ethan and Pete took to the streets of Plymouth for Men’s Day Out 2026, a charity walk in aid of St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth. And in true Aldermans fashion, they didn’t do it by halves.

Enter: the Baywatch Brigade

The theme was Baywatch. The commitment was total. Red and yellow uniforms, rescue floats repurposed as snack carriers, and a slow-motion strut through Plymouth that was, by all accounts, entirely accidental rather than deliberate. The uniforms were ordered in ‘large’. The fit was optimistic.

The route also took in a number of Plymouth’s finest establishments for what the team described as essential hydration stops. How many? Enough that nobody was counting by the end. All in the name of charity, of course.

What they lacked in running speed, they more than made up for in enthusiasm. Men’s Day Out is one of Plymouth’s most loved charity events, bringing people together to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice, which offers free specialist palliative care to those with life-limiting illnesses across Plymouth and the neighbouring area. The hospice depends heavily on fundraising and community support to keep those services running, so every donation truly matters.

As of writing, the lads have raised over £1,082 through Dylan’s JustGiving page, and the total is still climbing. If you’d like to contribute, you can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/aldermansmensdayout2026.

We’re incredibly proud of them for getting involved, for giving up their Saturday, and for wearing yellow Lycra in public without complaint.

A record-breaking afternoon at Brickfields

The same weekend, Aldermans were Match Ball Sponsors for Plymouth Albion RFC’s home fixture against RAMS, and it turned out to be quite a match to be part of.

The game drew a crowd of 4,631, the largest turnout in 15 years and a record for National League One, and the atmosphere reflected it. Plymouth Albion has long been a pillar of sport in the city, and days like this serve as a reminder of just how much the club means to the community.

Being Match Ball Sponsor gave us a small part in a big occasion, and we were pleased to be there. Supporting local sports and local causes is something we strongly believe in at Aldermans. Plymouth is our home, and it’s important to give something back.

A weekend to remember

Between the charity walk and the rugby, it was quite a Saturday for Aldermans. Two very different events, but the same theme running through both: people coming together, supporting a cause they care about, and doing something good for the city.
