Aldermans to open its doors for National Manufacturing Day 2025

Aldermans, the award-winning metal fabrication subcontractor, is opening its doors to local school and college students for National Manufacturing Day on 25th September 2025.

National Manufacturing Day is an annual event organised by Make UK to celebrate the very best of UK manufacturing and to showcase the range of highly skilled careers within the sector. Plymouth-based Aldermans has been a proud participant in this important initiative for several years, continuing our commitment to inspiring the next generation of manufacturing professionals.

On 25th September, we will welcome students from City College Plymouth, UTC Plymouth, and YMCA Plymouth to explore behind the scenes and discover what modern manufacturing and engineering careers have to offer.

What Visitors Can Expect

Coming behind the scenes, visitors will enjoy a tour of the Aldermans factory, view our high-tech metal fabrication facilities, and experience hands-on demonstrations of our cutting-edge technology. The Aldermans team, including our apprentices, will be available to answer questions and share their personal experiences about career and training opportunities, as well as what they love about working in the UK manufacturing and engineering sector.

National Manufacturing Day offers something for all age groups, from younger students choosing subjects to school leavers and experienced workers exploring manufacturing careers. The national celebration day will see companies giving their local communities, schools, and colleges the chance to learn more about the businesses on their doorstep.

Manufacturing encompasses a broad range of sectors, including aerospace, engineering, chemical and pharmaceutical, food and drink, defence, automotive, and renewable technologies.

Stephen Phipson CBE, CEO of Make UK, the manufacturers organisation, said: “National Manufacturing Day is growing every year and is where the diverse sector I am privileged to represent comes together to celebrate the innovations British companies make every day and showcase the careers on offer to people of all ages across the whole of the country.

Our companies are at the forefront of technology development and global renewable design, and we hope this fourth National Manufacturing Day will encourage people who have never thought of manufacturing as their future to come along to see what it is really like firsthand. This is a highly paid sector which offers something for everyone. I started my career as an apprentice engineer, and it is a decision I have not regretted for a single day.”
